Capital Punishment for Child rapists? – #SuperBloggerChallenge2018 #Instacuppa

Following the barbaric rape cases that have surfaced in recent times, a prodigious public outcry is witnessed across the nation where people are demanding justice for the victims of such heinous crimes.

The most recent of all is the Asifa Bano rape case. An 8-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir was kidnapped, held captive in a temple, raped repeatedly and murdered. This case has triggered a huge public outrage; like the one witnessed in the infernal Nirbhaya case in December 2012 where a girl was fatally gang-raped in a moving bus.

Many such cases have surfaced from time to time that shocks us to our very core. Moreover, such cases compel us to question the efficiency of our current judicial system in curbing such offences and bringing justice to the victims of such heinous crime.

The question that is spreading like wildfire across the nation right now is whether capital punishment (death penalty) is fitting for child rapists or not.

Rape, in general, is considered as one of the most barbaric and inexcusable of offences. The sheer mental, physical and emotional trauma that one goes through cannot even be put in words.

And to inflict all that mentally, physically and emotionally slaughtering trauma on a child is gruesome and appalling. We can’t even begin to imagine the effect it has on an adult, let alone a child.

Due to the recent spine-chilling cases looming over our heads, there is an apparent need to make some amendments in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In the present scenario, there is a 3-year imprisonment for sexually harassing a child, 5-year imprisonment for sexual assault and 10-years imprisonment for aggravated sexual assault.

Now, there are talks of adoption of capital punishment for people convicted of raping a child below the age of 12.

“I have been deeply, deeply disturbed by the rape case in Kathua and all the recent rape cases that have happened on children. I and the (women and child development) ministry intend to bring an amendment to the POCSO Act asking for death penalty for rape of children below 12 years,” Maneka Gandhi was heard saying in a video, which was uploaded on Twitter.

Many might be against capital punishment thinking that although the anger is justified, the law should not be amended based on a mere public outrage. Moreover, some say that a death penalty will not a serve a deterrent in such cases. That the people willing to commit such crimes will not be afraid to do it just because of the fear of being hanged.

However, in my opinion, the adoption of capital punishment or a death penalty for people convicted of raping a child, is judicious.

Not only will it serve to bring justice to the victim and her family, but will also act as a deterrent, at least on some level. It may even instil the victims and the family members to come out and report the case, as a majority of rape cases go unreported due to the social stigmas attached to it. Moreover, a chemical castration can also serve as a deterrent and inhibit people from getting involved in such crimes.

Be it life imprisonment, chemical castration or capital punishment, such heinous crimes shall not be neglected. The culprits must be penalized duly. Justice should be served in a befitting manner and not in some form of a monetary compensation given to the victim’s family.

Feel free to comment down your thoughts below and contribute in this debate by being an active part of it.

Are you pro-death penalty for child rapists and child sex offenders? Do you think that adopting capital punishment for the crime will act as a deterrent? Do you think it will engrave a fear of death in the minds of future culprits?

Or are you of the opinion that death penalty should be abolished?

All of us are aware of the hassles of styling our hair daily. Be it straightening the hair for a party or curling the hair to revamp your style, the struggle of styling the hair is real. Not to mention the harmful effects it has on our hair. The heat from the hair straightener or the curling iron or just a mere hair dryer invariably damage our hair when used day-after-day.

Thus, most women out there suffer from severe hair fall. The split ends and the intense hair fall leads to the deterioration of the hair. Moreover, the scorching heat of the summer season, a large amount of suspended particulate matter in the air present as a pollutant or the contaminated water we unknowingly use to wash our hair, all of it takes a toll on our hair.

So, how do we stop it? We can’t just stop styling our hair and end up looking like a mess. All of us want to look good. All of us desire to be the best possible version of ourselves. Be it a mom of 3 kids who is always running around the house doing chores and taking care of her kids, or a pop celebrity always on the road – touring, all women want to be able to look in the mirror and feel good about the way they look. Not only does looking good instils in us a tremendous amount of confidence, but it also pushes us to go out there in the world and conquer our goals.

Thus, the way we look, the way we dress, ends up being of utmost importance. And as we all know, the way we style our hair decides how we look.

So, how do you look good, enjoy the ease of styling your hair every day without damaging your hair?

5 Things That Make Me Happy

We, as human beings, have an innate propensity to seek happiness. Our whole life is being guided by an indefinite intention to attain happiness. Blinded by this crippling desire to “be happy”, we often find ourselves to be crawling in the mud in hopes of achieving the lifelong dream, that is to “be happy”. Our definition of happiness seems to be flawed. We tend to seek happiness in materialistic things. Be it the new iPhone X or a new car, the idea of owning a new piece of technology or a shiny new toy appeals to us, and thus, indeed make us happy. However, this happiness is ephemeral. It is short lived. It cannot be sustained forever. Over time, a newer version of an iPhone would launch or a new desire to own another asset would develop, compelling us to get behind it. Such a mindset often leads to disappointment in an individual. One cannot just keep buying new things, right? Not being able to buy/own a thing that you think will make you happy will lead to disappointment.

Thus, we need to define the term “happiness” first. Someone might experience happiness in travelling and exploring different places across the globe, while someone else might find it in writing/reading a book or in music. Whatever the case may be, it won’t be the same for everyone and it certainly won’t be something materialistic.

Since people are so eager to find happiness in frivolous titles or in shiny new things, they often miss out on the areas, that if conquered, may lead to true happiness. Such areas go unnoticed in our prime and haunt us in our dotage.

Here are the 5 things that make me happy.

  1. Travelling

Burj Al Arab

Ever since I was a kid, I have been enamoured by the idea of being able to explore every nook and cranny of the world we live in. Thus, I have always found myself to be keen on travelling around the world and interacting with different individuals living in different places. Not only does travelling bring me immense happiness, but it also brings a certain sense of calm to my demeanour. Moreover, being able to interact with different people has helped me perceive the world through different lenses. I have travelled 5 countries on 3 different continents, namely Dubai, Paris, London, Kiev and Hong Kong, and I hope to never stop travelling. Feel free to check out the article I wrote about my trip to Dubai.

  1. Family & Friends

Parag Iphone 384

I have always been the guy who gave preference to my family and friends over work. Spending time with family is an absolute necessity. I see people drowning themselves in work or being depreciated in the quest for money. What they don’t realize is the importance of friends and family in our lives. My friends and family provide me with the emotional and mental support in times of distress and help me conquer my goals.

Every achievement is accentuated when I’m with my friends and family. I am thankful to have such amazing and caring people in my life.

  1. Blogging

Blogging has been a new-found obsession for me. Being a social media influencer for over 5 years, I always wanted to dive into blogging. From starting my own blog 3 months ago – techandtravellife.wordpress.com, to now having built my own website – techtravelandlife.com, blogging does make me happy. Moreover, I recently bagged my first international campaign for cars.com. Being able to monetize my passion is a pure bliss. To check out my international campaign for cars.com – Click here

  1. Progression

Being a competitive guy, progression is something that I have always fixated on. Setting daily, monthly and yearly goals and then working hard to achieve them, all lead to progress. Thus, for me, to always keep progressing in life is not only a conscious mandatory choice, but it also makes me happy.

  1. Life

One of the most important thing in life is to be grateful for being alive. There is a 400 trillion to 1 ratio for us to be born as a human in this world. However, we just walk around cribbing about our problems and fixating on the things that didn’t go right. I tend to fixate on the fact that I’m alive and healthy. Gratitude towards life itself and this feeling of being alive fills my heart with jubilation.

Buying a car is like cashing in on your dreams. All of us dream to own a car that not only gets us from A to B but also satiates our lifelong fantasies of cruising in a superlative automobile. Be it your first car or the 10th, the dopamine rush that you experience whilst buying a new car is euphoric.

We all know that one cannot just keep buying a new car every time she/he wishes to witness the above-mentioned feeling of euphoria again; not unless you’re highly affluent or inherited a great deal of money recently.

So, how do you sustain the state of being in a euphoric trance? How do you relive the rush you felt whilst buying your car?

The answer is simple. You invest in a sturdy, pleasant automobile that you can rely on throughout the years.

More than often, people end up buying cars on a hunch. They just walk into a car dealership and go with their gut. Thus, one often ends up with a sub-standard vehicle with minimal features and double the price. You need to be aware that you will not be able to savor the purchase if it burns a hole in your pocket. Be it in terms of a huge loan (because you bit off way more than you can chew in the heat of the moment) or the continuous depreciating value of your car, you need to make sure that you make a wise purchase and extract the most out of it.

Now you’re probably thinking that the points listed above are valid points but how do I make a wise purchase?

The answer is CARS.COM

Cars.com is like an online Walmart for cars. Just like you walk into an aisle and see a wide variety of products for you to choose from, you can “walk into” this online portal and choose from a wide variety of cars that are listed. All the information is at your disposal at the click of a button.

Cars.com will help you in finding a reliable car, at the best possible price.

Finding a reliable car using CARS.COM

  1. Research – One should always research before making such a substantial purchase. This is where CARS.COM will help you out significantly. All you have to do is log onto CARS.COM and put in the specifications of the type of car that you wish to buy and VOILA!!! Just surf through the results and stumble across your ideal car.
  2. Reviews and videos – The more you know about the car you wish to buy, the better. You can read the reviews written by people who already bought the car and you can watch videos related to the one you are interested in.
  3. Compare – CARS.COM provides a smooth and user-friendly interface when it comes to comparing cars. You can compare up to 4 cars and can easily determine the best possible choice for you.
  4. New or Used – Whether you want to buy a new car or you want to go easy on those staggering finances and opt for a used car, CARS.COM provides you with both the options. You may also trade in your previous car and walk away with a brand new one. No more dealing with multitudes and finding a buyer for your car. No more hassle. Trade in and experience the joy of being the owner of a new Batmobile. Oh wait, I meant to say automobile*.
  5. Sell your car – If you are not looking to buy a new car and you just wish to sell your car at the best possible price, guess what do you have to do? CARS.COM, that is correct. You may sell directly to a dealer using quick offer or you can even sell it yourself and make a tad bit more money by hogging up the “dealers profit”.

Even if you don’t want to do any of the above and are just curious to find the value of your car, you can do that too. Curiosity killed the cat, sure, but in your case, your curiosity may result in you selling your car and ending up with a new one, at the best possible price. Thanks to CARS.COM
