5 Things That Make Me Happy

We, as human beings, have an innate propensity to seek happiness. Our whole life is being guided by an indefinite intention to attain happiness. Blinded by this crippling desire to “be happy”, we often find ourselves to be crawling in the mud in hopes of achieving the lifelong dream, that is to “be happy”. Our definition of happiness seems to be flawed. We tend to seek happiness in materialistic things. Be it the new iPhone X or a new car, the idea of owning a new piece of technology or a shiny new toy appeals to us, and thus, indeed make us happy. However, this happiness is ephemeral. It is short lived. It cannot be sustained forever. Over time, a newer version of an iPhone would launch or a new desire to own another asset would develop, compelling us to get behind it. Such a mindset often leads to disappointment in an individual. One cannot just keep buying new things, right? Not being able to buy/own a thing that you think will make you happy will lead to disappointment.

Thus, we need to define the term “happiness” first. Someone might experience happiness in travelling and exploring different places across the globe, while someone else might find it in writing/reading a book or in music. Whatever the case may be, it won’t be the same for everyone and it certainly won’t be something materialistic.

Since people are so eager to find happiness in frivolous titles or in shiny new things, they often miss out on the areas, that if conquered, may lead to true happiness. Such areas go unnoticed in our prime and haunt us in our dotage.

Here are the 5 things that make me happy.

  1. Travelling

Burj Al Arab

Ever since I was a kid, I have been enamoured by the idea of being able to explore every nook and cranny of the world we live in. Thus, I have always found myself to be keen on travelling around the world and interacting with different individuals living in different places. Not only does travelling bring me immense happiness, but it also brings a certain sense of calm to my demeanour. Moreover, being able to interact with different people has helped me perceive the world through different lenses. I have travelled 5 countries on 3 different continents, namely Dubai, Paris, London, Kiev and Hong Kong, and I hope to never stop travelling. Feel free to check out the article I wrote about my trip to Dubai.

  1. Family & Friends

I have always been the guy who gave preference to my family and friends over work. Spending time with family is an absolute necessity. I see people drowning themselves in work or being depreciated in the quest for money. What they don’t realize is the importance of friends and family in our lives. My friends and family provide me with the emotional and mental support in times of distress and help me conquer my goals.

Every achievement is accentuated when I’m with my friends and family. I am thankful to have such amazing and caring people in my life.

  1. Blogging

Blogging has been a new-found obsession for me. Being a social media influencer for over 5 years, I always wanted to dive into blogging. From starting my own blog 3 months ago – techandtravellife.wordpress.com, to now having built my own website – techtravelandlife.com, blogging does make me happy. Moreover, I recently bagged my first international campaign for cars.com. Being able to monetize my passion is a pure bliss. To check out my international campaign for cars.com – Click here

  1. Progression

Being a competitive guy, progression is something that I have always fixated on. Setting daily, monthly and yearly goals and then working hard to achieve them, all lead to progress. Thus, for me, to always keep progressing in life is not only a conscious mandatory choice, but it also makes me happy.

  1. Life

One of the most important thing in life is to be grateful for being alive. There is a 400 trillion to 1 ratio for us to be born as a human in this world. However, we just walk around cribbing about our problems and fixating on the things that didn’t go right. I tend to fixate on the fact that I’m alive and healthy. Gratitude towards life itself and this feeling of being alive fills my heart with jubilation.

This post is written as a part of the “Happiness blog train” presented by Blogsikka and Mom’s Methods and sponsored by Nayasa”. Nayasa has come up with a new range of bottles. This range of bottles are insulated, they maintain the liquid’s temperature inside the bottle either hot or cold. The new designs are practical and aesthetic. From holding in palms to the cap, everything is designed carefully.

I would like to thank Shubhada, who writes at  RainbowDiaries – A Parenting, Lifestyle and Food blog , for starting this train and introducing me.

The next station in this train is www.flavorsofworld.com by Priyanka. She is a lifestyle ,Parenting blogger and social media influencer from last 3 years.
