The Time I Went To Dubai

Founded on 9th June 1833, Dubai is one of the seven emirates that form the United Arab Emirates. From being an uninhabited expanse of land to now, an opulent and sumptuous establishment, Dubai has cemented itself not just as a major oil producer, but also as the dreamland everyone aspires to visit at least once in their lifetime.
With its breathtaking architecture, spectacular skylines and lavish lifestyle, it offers a glimpse into the lives of the affluent and the well-to-do.
I went to Dubai wanting to experience the rich, intangible culture and the high and mighty way of living. Now that I’m back from my trip to Dubai, I can undoubtedly claim that I got way more than I bargained for.
Dubai offers a wild variety of recreational activities like –
• The desert safari
• Indoor skiing
• Beaches and sea
• Camel races
• Water sports (like the banana boat ride)
• Deep sea Fishing
• Dubai Creek Cruise
• Desert Motorcycle tours
• Dubai Dolphinarium
• Hot air balloon
• The infamous sky-diving over the largest man-made island in the world.
Not to mention the ever so vibrant tourist hot spots, namely The Burj Khalifa, the Dubai fountain, Burj al-arab hotel, Dubai marina and the Palm islands among many others.
Due to my limited time in Dubai, I was not able to experience every aspect that this city has to offer, but I did manage to visit the following tourist destinations.

Burj Khalifa

Earlier known as Burj Dubai, Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest building in the world. It has been the tallest building since 2008. With an architectural height of 828 meters (Tip – 829.8 meters) and over 160 floors, the view from the top is unparalleled. It also features the fastest elevator in the world.
You can book tickets for “At the top” (Tour up the Burj Khalifa) if you wish to explore the world’s tallest building. You can either get off at the 125th floor or at the 148th floor (if you pay extra).

Burj Al Arab

Standing atop an artificial island, 280 meters from the shore, Burj Al Arab is the third largest hotel in the world.
An architectural milestone, it is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. Self proclaimed as the only 7 star hotel in the world, it truly gives an insight into the lives of the wealthy.

Desert Safari or Dune bashing

This was the most exhilarating experience of my trip to Dubai.  Being known for its desert safari and extreme adventure sports in the desert, you can expect yourself to turn into a child while riding the sand dunes on Dune buggies, quad bikes or the 4 x 4 Safari Jeeps.

The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is a massive establishment comprising of 1200 shops, a luxury hotel, 22 cinema screens and 120 restaurants and cafes. Another tourist hot-spot in the mall is the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
The tourists keep pouring in and the mall is always flushed with diverse groups of individuals from all around the globe.

All in all, visiting Dubai was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I would suggest everyone to visit Dubai with friends or family. For it is with them that we want to build the memories that we can cherish for life.
