Adding more to its exhaustive list of best horror movies, ZEE5 has come up with a one of its kind haunted movie – ‘Unlock’, starring the gorgeous Hina Khan alongside Kushal Tandon, Aditi Arya and Rishabh Sinha. Unlike the usual love triangle, this ZEE5 original movie has gone the extra mile to intrigue its viewers with a unique story of unrequited and obsessive love. Directed by Debatma Mandal, this horror movie unravels the horrifying secrets of the forbidden world of the dark web which is full of illegal, inhumane and eerie stuff. It is the first movie in Bollywood to experiment with such an unusual concept and as the trailer suggests, this experiment does seem to be quite promising! And even though, Hollywood has been dealing with the secrets of the deep web in movies and series like ‘Unfriended: The Dark Web’, ‘Who Am I’, ‘Silk Road’, ‘Night’, ‘E-Demon’ and so forth; an attempt like Unlock has never been made before.
It all starts when Suhani (Hina Khan) meets Anubhav (Rishabh Sinha) in a party, who introduces all his friends to the uses of the dark web. At first, she simply shows her curiosity to know more about it but the thought of losing her love interest Amar (Kushal Tandon) to her roommate Riddhi (Aditi Arya) frustrates her and she goes on to explore the dark side of the internet. She downloads a supernatural app that fulfils a wish after the completion of three devilish tasks and from here onwards begins the series of suspense and horror (a spooky experience like never seen before).
From installing hidden cameras in Amar’s house to seeking help from the supernatural, Suhani’s desperate efforts to win him over begin to take sinister forms. In choosing a wicked path to get the man she desires, things turn topsy-turvy not only for her but everyone around, leading to a series of frightening events. Suhani finds herself stuck in a direful muddle: she can’t refuse to finish the tasks as there’s no turning back now.
Beginning with her acting expedition as a television actress to her film debut in ‘Hacked’, Hina’s performance has never failed to surprise and amuse the viewers. Her utterly ravishing and breathing-taking, a grey-shaded character in this movie has stirred a great deal of excitement, this time too. And, Kushal’s commendable acting, intense looks and endearing smile would yet again make his fans go gaga over him.
The Femina Miss India World 2015 winner, Aditi, has carried off her sensitive and innocent character quite well. Most popular for his role in Zee’s Qubool Hai (2012), Rishabh too, has brought his character to life. The appearance of a hooded entity (shrouded in smoke and darkness) that ensures the completion of tasks, adds more to the frightening aura of this horror film. With each scene, your curiosity would heighten and the end will leave you absolutely astonished. On the whole, the visual appeal and storyline are unparalleled and this tech-horror is very likely to take a spot in your collection of top 10 horror movies.
