Characters

Ranvir Makhija (Karanvir) and Kanika Makhija (Priya) are playing the roles of a married couple. Ranvir has been portrayed as a handsome entrepreneur in the IT sector who’s extremely money-minded and dreams of becoming a billionaire. But there’s more to his genius and impressive personality. He’s a patient of bipolar disorder who also experiences prevalent hallucinations. On the other hand, Priya is shown as a perfect homemaker yet a woman with entangled strings of emotions and sexual attraction.

Other characters include Samantha Phoenix (Teejay), Rodriguez (Mantra) and Jonathan (Payal). Samantha is the antagonist and the most interesting character of the story. She’s a real estate agent and a serial killer who despise rich men and has already murdered seven of them. Jonathan (also Jo) is Samantha’s friend and leader of a drug mafia while Rodriguez is Jo’s brother and Kanika’s ex-lover, who happens to be a policeman.

Plot

The storyline centers around the married life of this supposedly happy couple who move into a new posh apartment. They seem to have been portrayed as fraudsters who have fled away with 20 crores and are wanted by the police. They appear as a perfect pair of lovers but Kanika still bears feelings for Rodriguez, having an extra-marital affair with him. The first episode shows Ranvir celebrating his success with his wife, Samantha and Joe, also inviting Rodriguez to the party. All this introduces exciting drama and later on, an emotional angle in the plot.

After the party, the couple shares some intimate moments together, following which some unusual and scary incidents begin to take place that surpass the boundaries of time. This shift from one timeline to another reveals a very disturbing truth to the couple about being murdered by someone in the future. They decide to go back in the past and twist the events to prevent this foreseen tragedy and save their lives. But do they actually succeed in escaping from this horrifying #SamayKaJaal?

Performances

The heart-throbbing Karanvir looks utterly sexy and charming, and his applaudable acting is one of the primary reasons why this series a must-watch. His vast experience with the television industry has surely helped him master the peak level of perfection, evident from his flawless expressions and dialogue delivery in Bhanwar. Priya also looks ravishing and great in the role of a modern housewife, something that’s completely different from the characters she has portrayed so far. She’s most appreciated for her role in Baarish (2019) and Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna (2019).

Teejay (Karanvir’s real-life spouse) looks stunning and bold in her villainous role. Her strong appearance perfectly coincides with the rugged personality of her character. Mantra (known for his versatility as a director, producer, actor, radio and video jockey) has excellently pulled off his role as a cop. Payal has also left no stone unturned to amuse the viewers with her jaw-dropping performance.

Screenplay and Cinematography

The unique concept of the series and the amazing chemistry between the lead pair adds to its overall entertainment value. Karanvir’s direction is indeed commendable. Despite of being filmed during the lockdown with limited means, there seems to be no compromise on its visuals and cinematic feel. The VFX is apt and amazing, especially the effects used for depicting the small windmill (the paranormal time-machine that leads the Makhijas into a labyrinth of time). The title of the show refers to a whirlpool or a wormhole which ideally goes with the storyline. The background scores are superb and greatly heighten the air of suspense, horror and mystery. On the whole, you can surely count on this show to kill your boredom.

The duration of Bhanwar each episode is approximately 15 minutes which makes it perfect for a binge-watch. So, make your Sunday thrilling and exciting with Bhanwar, streaming exclusively on ZEE5.
