Despite its long expansion history, the US economy has been in recession for the past six months as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. 90% of students are not in colleges and unemployment rates have skyrocketed. Historically speaking, there has never been a more dire or crucial time in the last two decades to get on top of your financial situation. Mathematically challenged or not, even the most financially ignorant of us have to really get into it with our pens, papers, and calculators. What a nightmare! Right? Not really though, thanks to these cool online financial tools and calculators available on Pigly!, even for novices like us.

Don’t Judge the Book by its Name

The other day I was browsing through some websites searching for the same and I came across Pigly! I remember thinking that a quirky name like that would be more fitting for a cartoon character than a financial calculator. The peculiarity is further enhanced by the exclamation mark. But as it turns out, it was a clever naming strategy because my interest piqued and I had to check it out. And thank god I did. This Pigly bank was everything I needed and so much more.

Pigly! An Overview

Pigly! is a personal finance calculator that’s aimed at making you aware of where you stand financially. Such tools help you prepare for unforeseen events like the one we’re all living through right now. Pigly! helps in knowing where you stand with respect to your income and savings. It helps you make a lot of significant decisions related to retirement, buying a new car or home, education loans, etc. In layman’s language, it gives a brief glimpse of what your financial future looks like so that you can plan accordingly. You need not even be fluent in the language of finance to get the knack of it. In fact, I believe it improves your financial literacy if anything. They have all sorts of calculators that one may need, from savings, mortgage, and credit card calculator to a car payment, loans, business investments, and retirement calculators.

The Car Payment Calculator

Since I am the kind of person who never keeps track of his expenditure, this experience was an eye-opener for me. I have been planning on buying a car so I tried the car payment calculator first. I had a long list of car models in mind that I was interested in, but this little piggy has burned through more than half of my list till I was left with the last four winners that I can comfortably afford. It even factored in my detailed list of expenditures and savings before giving me an exact figure of how much I can afford. After getting schooled in the affordability section, I moved on to the Auto loan form. I filled in the price of the car, the years, the interest and tax rates, and factoring in the miscellaneous expenses involved, I now have a printable and detailed summary of my Amortization Schedule, complete with dates, principal amount, interest, taxes levied, and the balance amount. Now, all I have to do is add it to my budget calendar and perhaps give my shopaholic tendencies a rest for a while.

It’s Free!

The biggest catch about this financial calculator, beyond a doubt, is the fact that it’s 100% free of cost and equally free of ads. There are no pop-ups that are spamming your screen, and no registration is required to avail its services. You can just cut to the chase, put in the figures and it will generate the result for you on the website itself.

In A Nutshell

In the end, I would just like to say that I really like the website, both in terms of its look and feel and the user-friendly features. I think it’s one of the very few financial websites embody simplicity and elegance and have managed to strike the right balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.
